Charles Dean Luikart, age 69, of Carey, Ohio, left the loving embrace of his family on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at his home.
Chuck was born on July 24, 1955, in Mason, West Virginia, to Charles H. and Iris (Weaver) Luikart. Charles was married to Patricia A. Frey, on February 22, 1975, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kirby, and she survives.
He is also survived by his 4 children: Danielle (David) Seifert of Wharton, Kevin Luikart of Carey, Adrianna (Adam) Wines of Upper Sandusky, and Kendall (Lacy) Luikart of Wharton. 13 grandchildren: Zachary, Karina, Jay, Leevi, Harper, Isabel, Evan, Alex, Isla, Kasey, Karter, Kylie, and Kandice, and 5 great grandchildren: Hunter, Skylar, Wayne, Raelynn and Embersyn.
Chuck is also survived by 3 brothers, Dan (Phyllis) Luikart of Upper Sandusky, Jack (Ginny) Luikart of Forest, Leonard (Jenny) Luikart of Harpster, and 2 sisters, Kathy Kauble and Linda Luikart, both of Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother James.
Chuck was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Army 82 Airborne Division where he spent 8 years of service to his country, earning many awards and medals. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for Tymochtee Construction with his brother Dan, and was a custodial engineer for St. Peter's Catholic School in Upper Sandusky.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kirby, and also attended Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Chuck also was a member of the Carey Legion Post #344, and the Disabled American Veterans, and a former member of the VFW Post #2842, and Amvets Post #777.
For hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, and was very artistic, which he displayed with his furniture building, woodworking, and wooden model building. He also was a movie buff and enjoyed watching action and sci-fi movies.
His greatest love was to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed visits with his brothers and sisters. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial mass for Charles Dean Luikart will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kirby with Father Savio Manavalan OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard. After graveside services, the family will receive family and friends at a luncheon to be held at the St. Mary's Center in Kirby.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, or St. Peter's Catholic School and can be sent to Lucas Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
