Charles O. Mackey, Age 83, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Tuesday evening January 28, 2025 surrounded by his family after an extended illness.
Charles, was born at Covedale, Kentucky July 4, 1941 to the late John Harmon and Mattie Doris Howell Mackey. Charles worked at Ashland Oil as a truck driver and also worked at Walds factory in Maysville, Kentucky. Charles was a graduate of Tollesboro High School Class of 1959. He also was a farmer and of the Christian faith.
Left to cherish Charles memories is his wife of 61 years whom he married April 19, 1963 in Vanceburg, Kentucky Joyce Kathleen Clark Mackey.
Two daughters- Stephanie (Wayne Cash) Mackey of Independence, Kentucky,
Karen Mackey and her husband Tommy Shramm of Covedale, Kentucky.
Son- Timothy Mackey of Florida.
Brothers- Gary Mackey of Vanceburg, Kentucky and Bobby (Denise) Mackey of Cold Springs, Kentucky.
10 grandchildren and 16-great-grandchildren also survive who will mourn his passing.
Preceded in death beside his parents were two brothers- John Steven Mackey and Darrell Mackey.
Visitation for Charles O. Mackey will be Sunday February 2, 2025 at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Funeral service will be Sunday February 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove cemetery at Covedale, Kentucky.
Pallbearers for Charles O. Mackey will be his grandsons- Tim Ferguson, Sean Ferguson, Tayler Ferguson, Brent Hertzenberg, Jake Ervin-Houp, and Luke Houp. Honorary pallbearer Thomas Shramm.
