Charles Martello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Brighton/Rochester Chapel on Jun. 6, 2024.
Passed June 4, 2024 at the age of 84. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Teresa. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy; children, Paul (Phyllis), John (Katy), Tom (Maureen) Martello, Catherine (Mike) Mastrosimone; grandchildren, Andrew Scott, Jonathan, Andrew Paul, Madison and Elizabeth; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chuck was an elementary school teacher for the East Irondequoit School District for over 30 years as well as a principal. He finished his teaching career as a Professor at Nazareth College. Over the duration of his career, he had such a profound impact on so many lives. No matter where our family went, somebody always knew "Mr. Martello."
Chuck always put his family first which included camping, vacationing, and quality family time. He will be dearly missed by all.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, 10 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 601 Edgewood Ave. Rochester, 14618. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Advent House or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Often memories span decades, from Sundays at Grandparents as children, but as families often do we lose touch. Was always nice to see him and Nancy, but having left WNY in 94 we rarely got to see them. Always remember the ever present smile that came so naturally along with Nancy's infectious laugh.

My family and I will always remember Chuck for his warm conversations with my children after the 4:30 pm mass about the Buffalo Bills, Anastasia Krupnik, and other topics that interest children. We will miss Chuck! May he rest in peace. Our prayers are with Nancy.

Chuck was one of the first colleagues that I worked with in East Irondequoit. His classroom was across from mine and I recall his calm demeanor, dedication to his students and his family.

My thoughts and prayers to Nancy and his family.

How well I remember Chuck's smile, cheerful greeting, and words of kindness. He was a favorite with students; he had clear expectations and was always ready to help a student achieve them. Definitely a model educator and effective leader, Chuck gave generously, effectively and creatively to his students, colleagues and the world of education.
