Nancy Endres Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Feb. 27, 2026.
Nancy Barbara Endres, 83, of Bardstown entered Eternal Life on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Nancy was born in Dover, Ohio to Carl and Marjory (Schaar) Endres. In her youth Nancy attended Nazareth College before going on to receive her Master of Education from Kent State University. Nancy touched the lives of many, from teaching those with developmental disabilities to serving as a nanny for children from all walks of life before retirement. Nancy was an Associate of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, making her First Commitment in 1981.

When Nancy moved back to Nazareth in 2013, she described it as "coming home" and quickly became more active on campus and with the Associates. Nancy began taking Sisters to visit Nazareth Home and to various appointments. She served as a massage therapist for the SCNs and had a personal mission to "bring bees back to Nazareth" (Nazareth Breaks Into Beekeeping - Sisters of Charity of Nazareth). Nancy was very involved with her faith group and was passionate about environmental justice. She was a supporter of local nonprofit New Pioneers for a Sustainable Future and often tended to a garden plot. Nancy served as Eucharistic Minister and lector both at Nazareth at St. Vincent de Paul Church and in many parishes, as well as being a dedicated choir member for many years.

Nancy was an accomplished baker, often sending homemade cookies as gifts, or her signature 4-layer coconut cake, always from scratch. She loved reading and could often be found in the Motherhouse Library, or dining with the Sisters with an ice cream cone piled high. Nancy had a kind and gentle spirit, carrying a strong desire to share God's love and help in whatever way she could.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as siblings, Judith Endres, Carl "Pete" Endres, aunt Sister Francis Richard Endres, SCN, and many other beloved relatives.

Those left to cherish her memory include son, Philip M. Stevenson Jr. (Rebecca Mullen), granddaughter Luna Mullen (Justin Jarvis); sisters Patricia (Earl) Schott, Genevieve (John Neuenschwander) Endres, nieces and nephews, and all who had the honor of knowing her.

Funeral Mass for Nancy will be at 11 AM on Friday, March 6 at Basilica at St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, 310 W. Stephen Foster Avenue in Bardstown, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery.
