It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Charles William McKee, who left us peacefully on January 22, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on September 6, 1936, in Vernon Parish, Louisiana, Charles lived a full life, making Gastonia his home.
He was a dedicated father and husband, surviving by his beloved wife of 39 years, Faye McKee; sons, Van McKee (Susan), Brian McKee (Suzanne), Patrick McKee, and Mark Avery (Jane); daughter, Debbie Kammerer (Tom); 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Mary McKee; several brothers and sisters.
Charles proudly served in the Marines, achieving the rank of Sergeant. After his time in service, he built a fulfilling career as an insurance agent, working hard until he was 84. He was also a devoted member of Yorkwood Church of God in Gastonia, where he made many friends and cherished memories.
Friends and family will gather to remember Charles and celebrate his life at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park, with military honors.
Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
