Charles Middlebrooks, finding the right words is impossible. How do I even start? It feels like just yesterday, back in 2007 we met, two HBCU graduates, proud members of Alpha Phi Alpha and Alpha Kappa Alpha, found themselves not just as colleagues but as the dearest of Friends. Your kind heart, your "Charlesisms," the laughter from your stories, and the heart-to-heart conversations we've had will forever be treasured. Your absence will be deeply felt. Rest Peacefully in Paradise, my Friend.

I Remain,

~Tiffney Jackson

A Fond Memory with Charles,
In October of 2023 I invited Charles to be my singing partner at the MARTA talent show. At first, he was impressed and accepted the challenge. The next day he told me that the only song he would sing was "The Christmas Song". After our first rehearsal at work, he decided he didn't want to participate, for he had other challenges in his mind. I insisted, and we rehearsed every time we could, while annoying all our colleagues around. We named ourselves 'The Fedoras' like the hats he always wore, and we ended winning 3rd place in the talent show. Days after, he comes to me with a nice card, sat down at my desk and thanked me from the bottom of his heart for insisting he sing and that I had given him his "Once in a lifetime moment of Spotlight." He proudly showcased his spotlight video every chance he could.
The Internal Audit Team will greatly miss our 'Hummingbird" Charles Middlebrooks.

Charles was on my interview panel when I interviewed at MARTA. From then on charles and I always sought each other with conversations. Especially him graduating from Tuskegee. Charles was a friendly guy that always tried to encourage you with positivity. Although Charles will be missed, I hold on to the memories.

Chucky was my 7th grade student at Richards Jr. High, and a friend of my daughter Missi slusarchuk. He made me smile every day! Just seeing him made me feel cheerful. He was well liked by the other students, and I might add, he was very smart. He was one of those students where all I had to do as the teacher was show up and he made me look good. I knew then that he would be successful in life. My love to you Lucille.

My most memorable experience with Director Charles, was the fact that he was in the right place at the right time when I was informed of my father's transition November 2023. He provided all the right reactions to my silent distress and tears. His responses to my storm provided the support I needed to gather myself and move forward. I will never forget his firm grip of my shoulders (that reminded me of my fathers grip) to help bring me back into focus. Charles, thank you for coming into my life and my heart space even if it was for a season. It was worth every humming moment. Most Grateful for your life before and beyond. With Love for your family, Donna

My first memory was at orientation. I kept answering his questions and he paused to ask, what Department are you in? I said Internal Audit. We all laughed...

Saddened to hear Chucky passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 60. I first met him at church as a child. He was only a few years older than me. Some of my earliest memories were of our great conversations about literature, psychology, politics, logic puzzles, grades and exams. Chucky's upbringing by his parents instilled in a strong sense of self-confidence and the ability to have open conversations. He was a kind, intelligent and insightful soul with a gift for truly listening. His positive spirit, gentle heart and witty humor were infectious. Even before emotional intelligence became a popular term, Chuck possessed it in abundance. Chuck is one of quiet empathy and a heart that embraced the beautiful diversity of humanity and experiences. He will be deeply missed. My heartfelt condolences to his extraordinary, fierce and beautiful mother Ms. Lucille, his loving wife Tammie Bell, his three children Christopher, Christina and Christal and his extended family and friends. My heart ache for you all. Wishing you love and strength during this difficult time.
