Charles W. Mitchell Jr.

Charles W. Mitchell Jr. was born to Vera Gene Swanegan and Charles W. Mitchell Sr. on March 11, 1942. He passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Medical Center on April 22, 2025.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his brother Michael A. Mitchell, and his stepfather Harold W. Wheeler Sr.
Charles graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960. He enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served for six years, as he rose to the rank of Torpedoman's Mate third class. He served as a reservist in the Navy for18 years until 1999.
Charles had a long career working at Honeywell International, also known as Bendix, from 1968 until 2002 where he was a security police officer. While there, Charles also served as a member of the Department of Energy's Special Emergency Response Team/ SWAT. His career in law-enforcement also included private security, being a process server, and 3 years as a Kansas City, Missouri Police Department reserve of cer.
Charles is survived by his loving, caring and devoted wife of 30 years, Freddie D. Mitchell, his brother Harold W. Wheeler Jr. his daughters Shana Pembrick (Paul), Denise Jackson, Doris Smith (Wayne), his sons Mark Mitchell (Alison), Howard Jackson, (Michelle), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, 11am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Visitation 10 a.m. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Services conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
