Charles Wayne Mitchell, age 79, of Malta, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 24, 1946, in DeKalb, Texas to Roy "Nubbin" and Margaret Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell retired from Red River Army Depot where he served as Branch Chief and was also the owner of Mitchell Electric. He was a veteran of the United States Army and National Guard and served honorably for over 25 years. He was a member and deacon at Rock Creek Baptist Church and a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Barbara Peek; his granddaughter, Chassidy Bagwell; and his nephew, Kevin Mitchell.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 29 years, Brenda Mitchell of Malta, Texas; his daughters and sons-in-law, Carla Phares of Wake Village, Texas, Dea and Mike Kidd of Malta, Texas, Tonja and Floyd Wright of Maud, Texas; his sons and daughter-in-law, Shane Mitchell of Seattle, Washington, Chris and Kimberly Smallwood of New Boston, Texas; his grandchildren, Weston Bagwell, Deven Bagwell, Morgan Bridwell, Allie Bagwell, Amber Long, Tanner Morten, Brookelynn Wright, Jordan Biswell, Madeline Smallwood, Gracie Smallwood, Hunter Smallwood; numerous great-grandchildren; his sisters, Judy Keeling, Wanda Brown, Deanne Ward; his brothers and sister-in-law, Clifton and Karen Mitchell, Roylyn Mitchell; numerous nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Rock Creek Baptist Church – Maud, Texas with Bro. Steve Minter officiating. Arrangements are being made under the direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made to Rock Creek Baptist Church (4341 FM 2149 – Maud, Texas 75567)

A special thanks to Dierksen Hospice and Caregiver, Rita Cummings, for their compassionate care, comfort, and support that they provided for Mr. Mitchell and his family.
