Charles Randall "Randy" Moore, 73, of
Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025. Born in Chattanooga to Charles George Moore and Lena Dolores Moore, Randy lived a life defined by hard work, service, and devotion to family. He shared 46 years of marriage with his loving wife, Paulette Moore, and together they built a family and life filled with love.
Randy began his working life as a milkman, breadman, and steel mill worker before finding his calling in the military. He proudly served in the Tennessee Army National Guard, beginning his career in field artillery-a branch he always held close to his heart and supported throughout his service. Over the course of his distinguished military career, he served as a recruiter and later as an operations sergeant, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant (MSG). He took pride in people he recruited into the Guard, and the opportunities they gained from it . He was deployed during the Persian Gulf War and remained deeply committed to supporting fellow service members. After retiring from active duty, Randy continued his life of service by assisting others with military matters at the National Guard Armory and working with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. He was also a dedicated member of the
Shriners Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette Moore; his children, James Moore, Charles Moore (Karen), Leslie Smith. (Phil), and Bryan Moore (Carolyn); his brothers David Moore (Debbie), Mike Moore, and Gary Moore (Cheryl); his sister, Brenda Blackwell(Larry); grandchildren Brandy Hayes, CJ (Ashley), Dalton Moore, Phillip Smith Jr Luke Moore, and Alex Moore and great-granddaughters Kelsey Moore, Brady Smith, Kylie Barton, and Paisley Barton.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents , his son in law Phil Smith, and his infant sister, Mary Josephine Moore.
A funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home in
Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, followed by burial with military honors at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Randy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a proud soldier who dedicated his life to his country and his community. His legacy of service and love will live on through his family and all who knew him.
