Charles Leslie Moores

Charles Moores, 87, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. Charlie was born in Lexington, Kentucky on September 6, 1938 to Isaac Shelby and Marion Cantrill Moores. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters. On July 1, 1972, Charlie married the love of his life, Linda Guilfoil Moores. Together they shared 2 daughters, Leslie (Shane) Wise of Lexington, and Erin (Kevin) Litteral of Winchester. Charlie was a wonderful father and grandfather to 4 grandchildren: Elaina, Neil, Makenzie, and Khloe. He was also the beloved "dog dad" to his faithful companion, Bailey June. Charlie graduated from Nicholasville High School. He farmed, co-owned Moores Auto Parts in Nicholasville with his brother, Jim, and eventually opened his own store in Lexington, Kwik Automotive. After closing Kwik Automotive, Charlie went to work for Kroger. He retired from Kroger after many years of service. He was a faithful member of Athens Christian Church for several decades where he served as elder, song leader, and Sunday School teacher. He most recently attended church at Southland Christian Church – Lexington. Charlie was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. He was always ready to greet someone with a joke or story and shared his love of Jesus with everyone he met. Services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Athens Christian Church, 6290 Athens Boonesboro Rd, Lexington. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the funeral service following at 12:00 PM. Serving as honorary pallbearers: Tom Henderson, Raymond Moody, and Billy Guilfoil. Serving as pallbearers: Neil Wethington, Shane Wise, Kevin Litteral, Brant Grose, Doug Blackford, Robbie Von Behren, and Todd VonBehren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlie's memory to Southland Christian Church's Dollar Club or Fairy Tails Pet Adoptions of Winchester.
