Charles Robert Morris, of Locust Grove, Virginia, died at 4:25 pm on March 8th, 2026, surrounded by his daughter Amy and grandchildren Ash, Arin, and Fallon. He passed peacefully at his home in Morrison, following a long battle with Lewy Body dementia. He was born on October 20, 1944, at the Morris farm in Nicktown, Pennsylvania, and was the eighth child of Merton and Madeline Morris.

After graduating from Penns Manor High School, Charles went on to enlist in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He served during the Vietnam War as a Yeoman, during which he received a bachelor’s degree in applied science from Miami University. Charles was selected to be a commissioned officer and retired as a Lieutenant. After retiring, he went on to work at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. In 1989, Charles relocated his family to Locust Grove, Virginia, and worked alongside his wife for an ophthalmologist in Fredericksburg.

Charles enjoyed golfing, gardening, and woodworking. He loved being outdoors and spent much time landscaping his yard and planting. He also loved baking and cooking, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Charles is survived by one sister, Virginia Morris Valenti, two daughters, Susan Carol and Amy Elizabeth (Jason) Samples; three grandsons, Joshua Wayne (Melanie) Cruse, Ash Taylor Aiello, and Arin Tyler Aiello; a granddaughter, Fallon Leigh Samples; and a great-grandson, Elliot Michael Cruse.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Carol, a grandson, Alexander Michael Aiello, his parents, Merton Emanuel Morris and Madeline Helen McAnulty, five brothers; Phillip Henry Morris, Richard Eugene Morris, Thomas Merton Morris, Harry James Morris, and James Morris, four sisters; Lucille Morris Croyle, Beverly Morris Morley, Larue Morris Terlion, and Margaret Morris, two nieces; Karen Terlion and Sharon Shilling, and two nephews, Donald Charles Croyle and Moon Charles Morley.

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling, Illinois. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later time. Interment of ashes will be at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia.
