Charles Ray "Charlie" Mudd, Sr. age 86, of rural Trafalgar, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday evening, February 3, 2025.
Charlie was born on January 17, 1939, in Caneyville, Kentucky, to the late Herbert and Myrtle Ray (Preston) Mudd. He was a 1957 graduate of Nineveh High School. Charlie proudly served with the Air Defense Artillery Unit of the United States Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963. He retired in 2001 after a fulfilling career as a Forklift Operator at Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, where he worked for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 933 and a former member of the Johnson County Antique Tractor Association.
Charlie will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his deep love for his family. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a hand. His passions included deer hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jennie Lea (Glidden) Mudd, whom he married on September 13, 1958, at Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Alma Jean Stuart and Freida Rose Gaines.
Charlie is survived by his children, Charles "Charlie" (Julie) Mudd Jr. of Princes Lakes and Rebecca "Becky" Mudd of Indianapolis; his grandson, Austin Ray (Molly) Mudd of Greenwood; and great-granddaughter, Islay Rose Oaks Mudd of Greenwood. He is also survived by his siblings, Danny Dale Mudd of Franklin and Doris Mildred (John Ogle) Gifford of Texas.
Mr. Sunny Glidden will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Meredith -Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Nineveh Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Charlie's memory may be made to American War Mothers at 1139 Lincoln Park West Drive, Greenwood, IN 46142.
