It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Russell Nause, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, who departed this life on October 1, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 13, 1940, in Milford, Ohio, Charlie lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for his family.

Charlie proudly served in the United States Navy, where he spent over 20 years honoring our country. Following his military service, he dedicated an additional 20 plus years to the fire service, retiring as Chief at Wayne Township. His commitment to public service and his country reflected his deep-seated patriotism and unwavering sense of duty.

He was known for his remarkable storytelling, often regaling family and friends with tales from his military days and experiences as a fire chief. Charlie had a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any room and a warmth that made everyone feel at home. He was a true role model to his children, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion.

A devoted husband to his wife Lois, Charlie cherished their time together, sharing in the joys of family life and celebrating the milestones of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in being a grandfather and great-grandfather, showing a boundless love for his family that knew no limits. His passions included hunting, boating on the lake, and an admiration for eagles, symbolizing his free spirit and love for nature.

Charlie is survived by his wife Lois, children, Phillip (Shelly) Nause, Christopher (Jim) Nause and Karol (Randy) Soucek, grandchildren, Eric (Alexa), Austin and Megan (Tyler), great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Sophia, Harper, Tanner, Chase and Piper, his siblings, Barb, Margaret, Pam, Teri, Greg, Mick and Alison. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Opal Nause, his granddaughter Lucinda Nause, and siblings Joe Nause, Jerry Nause, Patty Nause and Angie Farrell.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Charlie at Evans Funeral Home in Milford. A visitation will take place on October 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, providing an opportunity to share memories and honor his legacy. A funeral service will follow on October 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Following the service, Charlie will be laid to rest at Plainview Cemetery.

Charles Russell Nause will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service, love, laughter, and strength will forever reside in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a true patriot, a loving family man, and a hero in every sense of the word. May he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio 2003 Veterans Blvd, Georgetown, OH 45121.
