Charles Collier Oden, Jr, 64 died peacefully on March 6, 2026, at his home in Hartselle. He was a faithful member of The First Methodist of Hartselle. He was a lifelong resident of Hartselle and truly loved his hometown and anything Auburn. Charlie was born May 11, 1961, and the only son of his parents Charles and Rachel Oden, who proceeded him in death. Also preceding in death was his brother-in-law, Larry Stejskal. He graduated from Morgan County High School. He attended Jacksonville State University but chose to return home to serve Hartselle Utilities as Warehouse Manager, where he worked for 25-years.

Charlie loved any sport that his nephews and step grandchildren were playing. He also enjoyed going to the mountains and beaches on vacation. He sang in the choir at church and with Heritage Singers at Columbia Cottage. Many folks knew him as Too Tall Charlie, Hawk, and Papa Smurf.

He is survived by Sue Broadway, whom he married on April 19, 2014. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Jones of Montgomery, AL, and her son Justin, and his sister, Betty Stejskal of Fairhope, AL, and her sons Mark(Kris), David(Mindy), and Scott along with great nephews, and great nieces; Blaine, Sarah Claire, Catie Beth, Walker, Anna Britten, Caroline, and Lucy Stejskal. He had many Hereford and Oden cousins and friends who will sincerely miss him.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 2:00PM at The First Methodist Church of Hartselle with service at 3:00. Graveside to follow at Hartselle Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews along with Ernest Hauk, Lee Petrandis, and George Petrandis.
