Charles Pankowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coats Funeral Home - Waterford on Nov. 28, 2025.
Charles S. "Chuck" Pankowski of Clarkston passed away on November 27, 2025 at 74 years of age at Trinity Health Hospital (formerly St. Joseph Mercy) in Pontiac. Born June 23, 1951 in Detroit to loving parents Charles and Viola (née Ratui) Pankowski, Chuck grew up with a strong sense of family, a sharp wit, and a joy for life that carried him through the years.

Chuck earned his bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University before beginning a long and successful career. He worked for Chrysler for 24 years, later serving as an account executive for ICM and BorgWarner in Auburn Hills for 25 years, retiring in 2010. He was respected for his integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to form lasting friendships wherever he went.

He was a proud officer of Sons of the American Legion Post 377, where he valued the camaraderie, purpose, and fellowship shared among its members.

Outside of work, Chuck embraced life fully. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, visiting casinos, fishing, and boating-especially maintaining his boat on Lake Erie and in Put-in-Bay, Ohio, where he loved fishing for walleye and perch. Chuck appreciated a good time and was known for his great sense of humor and the unforgettable stories he created, including a few infamous adventures involving lost boats and cars while out with friends.

Above all, Chuck was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Telitha (née Baker); his son Charles Pankowski; daughter Jean Pankowski; and son David (Wendy) Pankowski. His beloved sister Claudia (Paul) Kempa. He was a proud grandfather to Brody Pankowski. He is also survived by his stepson Michael (Theresa) Gay and their children, Tesla and Cianna.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Viola (née Ratiu) Pankowski; his sister, Judith Bucknacvich; and his brother, Michael Pankowski.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11 AM at COATS FUNERAL HOME–WATERFORD. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM with rosary at 4 PM. To post a tribute, visit www.CoatsFuneralHome.com.
