April Ware

April Jo Ware, age 50, of Sturgis, Michigan, passed away Friday evening, March 6, 2026, at her home.

She was born May 26, 1975, in Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter of the late Raymond and Patricia (Hutchinson) Surrette.

April resided in Sturgis for most of her life and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the Class of 1993. She furthered her education at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and later earned an Associate Degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix.

On October 12, 2013, she married the love of her life, Michael Ware, in Sturgis.

April was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of Whole Life Church in Sturgis and had a passion for photography. April especially loved cats and enjoyed capturing special moments through her camera lens.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her children, Hunter (Bailey) Mears of Portage, Kori Stroh of Sturgis, and Konnor Stroh of Sturgis; her grandchildren, Abigail, Elloise, Theodore, and Lucille; and her mother-in-law, Helen Ware of Sturgis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn child.

In honoring April's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date.
