Ernest J. Ware, 90, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on February 1, 1936 in Ireland, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Williston) Ware. He was a man defined by his unwavering commitment to his work and, above all, his family.
A proud steelworker, Ernest spent decades in the industry, known for his strong work ethic, determination, and was respected by his colleagues. He took great pride in providing for his family and in the friendships he built on the job. Ernest will be remembered for his loyalty, and the quiet strength he carried through every season of life.
He lived a long, hardworking, and deeply meaningful life. For a remarkable 70 years, he was the devoted husband of Patricia, with whom he shared a lifetime of unwavering love. She survives him. He was the devoted father of Juanita (Kevin) Murray, Ed Ware, and Bruce (Tawnya) Ware; a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren; a proud great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren; and even a great-great grandchild. Ernest was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey Setliff and brother, Loris Ware. His family grew across five generations, each one touched by his kindness, wisdom, and gentle presence.
In accordance with Ernest’s wishes, a private service will be held. The family wishes to thank Lamiell Funeral Home in Canton for their compassionate care and guidance. Friends and family are invited to share memories, and honor a life well lived at: www.lamiellfuneralhome.com.
