Charles William Patton, fondly known as William, passed away on June 12, 2025, at Mission Hospital Asheville, while surrounded by loving family, He was born on May 23, 1951 to the late Lester and Violet Childers Patton.
William had a distinguished career as a retired licensed contractor, leaving a legacy of homes built throughout McDowell and the surrounding counties.
Beyond his professional endeavors, William was a deeply loving and attentive husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures, often finding joy in hunting, fishing, and watching Atlanta Braves baseball. A proud gun enthusiast, he shared his interests and passions with his family, ensuring that his legacy would be part of their lives.
William was a devoted member of the Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church. His faith was evident in the care and love he extended to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Dianne Lewis Patton; daughters Sandy Patton Davis and husband Steve, and Shelly Patton Bailey; grandson Trevor Davis and wife Kassidy; granddaughter Madison McEntire and husband Alex; and great-granddaughters Peytyn and Sage Davis. He also leaves behind siblings Donald (Jane), Mary (Don), Kathleen (Randy).
William is preceded in death by an infant son, a great-grandson River, and brothers Flubb Patton and Ricky Patton.
A memorial gathering will be held on June 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM, both taking place at the Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church located at 6995 Harmony Grove Rd, Nebo, NC 28761.
