Charles G. Pellegrini of White Plains, NY passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 surrounded by his children. He was 93 years old.
He was born to Charles and Rose Pellegrini on April 17, 1930 and grew up in Mount Vernon, NY. After graduating from A. B. Davis High School, he attended Syracuse University on a football scholarship. He served in the Armed Forces in the early 1950's and was honorably discharged for health reasons. Shortly afterwards, he met his future wife, Lillian Scalzo, and a whirlwind romance began lasting 73 years. They married in 1956 and shared 68 years of marriage. They are now reunited in heaven and together for eternity.
Charles was a devoted father of four children, Charlie, Bettina, Regina and Chris, and a loving grandfather to Laura, Jesse and Rebecca. He cherished his two sons in law, Wade and Erick.
Charles owned a variety of small construction and steel businesses, a bagel store, and worked in the import/export industry. After retirement, you might have seen him at the Larchmont Trader Joe's cooking up delicious samples and greeting customers. He was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister and sang in the church choir. He was a Volunteer Firefighter with Hope Engine of White Plains, NY.
As an avid songwriter, Charles created beautiful, heartfelt lyrics and melodies that became immediately memorable. He was a member of ASCAP and he and his friend and partner Lou Fortunate created Show Stopper Music, Inc. The years they spent writing and recording were some of the happiest years of Charles's life.
Charles was incredibly generous and kind. He often donated food and clothing to the Grace Church Shelter in White Plains. When you entered his home, you were family. He made everyone feel welcome and always had something kind to say. When you were with him, it was like being with someone you'd known for ages. His zest for life, his positive attitude and warm nature will be remembered by everyone who knew him.
