Charles Wayne Plummer

With profound joy and a heart full of love, we announce the passing of Charles Wayne Plummer, a beacon of resilience, who went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on September 18, 1942, in Indianapolis, IN, he is the son of the late Charles T. and Shirley Hoover Plummer.

Wayne was a miracle baby, defying expectations and living a life that would inspire countless others. Despite the challenges of several handicaps, Wayne chose to see them as opportunities for growth, and his unwavering spirit led him to live an extraordinary life, walking and bicycling everywhere despite being legally blind.

Growing up in Connersville and returning later in life, Wayne spent his young adulthood exploring the United States. While living in Texas he worked in the oil fields, a job he cherished deeply. He also spent several years in Illinois.

Wayne leaves an indelible mark on the lives of his loved ones. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Janette (Charles) Loyd, beloved son John Plummer, and a grandson, Matthew Burke. He is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Tompkins, Betty (Jeff) Taylor and Deborah Sexton; and his many friends at Fountain Place, nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family. Wayne's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

He now joins his heavenly family, reunited with his parents, Charles and Shirley, his son, Little Wayne; and his sisters, Joyce Jean Plummer, and Kay Plummer Becraft: and brothers, Jack, Kenny and Tom.

As we mourn his departure, we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now in heaven, his spirit shining brighter than ever.

Funeral services will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street, Connersville, on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Friends and family may gather from 11:00 am until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Village Creek Cemetery.
