Beloved father of Joseph Powers, Michele (Jim) Hart, Kelly (Dave) Golding and Michael (Lisa) Powers; Proud grandfather of MacKenzie, Joe, Dan, Ali, Melissa, Jamie, Colin, Jacqueline, Mike, Sean and K.J. and great- grandfather of seven; Preceded in death by just about everyone.
Mr. Powers was inducted into the Marist High School Hall of Fame for his 38 years of dedicated service and also inducted into the College of Education Hall of Fame at Illinois State University for 66 years in the education field.
Avid Chicago Bears and Cubs Fan and Mayor of Lamb Drive.
Visitation Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thompson Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn, IL.
Funeral April 7th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Linus Church, 10300 S. Lawler, Oak Lawn.
Interment April 8th St. Mary Cemetery, Ohio, IL.

Charles Powers was my first principal as a brand new teacher at Garfield School in District 147. I also worked for him when he was principal of McDonald School in District 123. How lucky I was! After he left District 123 to become superintendent of Patton School District in Riverdale, I remained in District 123 until retirement. Since we both lived in Oak Lawn and went to St. Linus Church, we would often see each other other after mass. This was a perfect time for a little chat. Charles Powers played an important part in so many lives.

One of my best memories of Mr Powers was when he won a football square at a party we attended. He took the money and distributed it all of his grandchildren that were there. I will never forget that. What a wonderful and generous man

Mr Powers was our Superintendent, at Patton elementary school in Riverdale Illinois Mr. Powers was a great superintendent and made Patton and all the teachers a great place to learn have great memories of my years and Patton in school 72- 81 thank you Mr. Powers
