Charles Wilson Queen, an 82-year-old lifelong resident of Sylva, NC sadly passed away on December 15, 2023, following a brief illness. Charles, a proud native of Jackson County, was the beloved son of the late Earlie and Essie Queen. He was a member of East Sylva Baptist Church, he had a passion for deer hunting on his Elberton, Georgia farm, enjoyed playing the guitar and cherished performing with the Elderly Brothers.

Charles found joy in traveling out west with family and friends and took pride in rebuilding his 1950 Mercury Coupe. His family, especially his three grandsons, and his loyal German Shepherd, Savvy, held a special place in his heart. Charles was also a proud member of the Bojangles Breakfast Club.

Preceded in death by siblings Jeanette Vance, Robert Queen, Madge Queen, Maxine Cunningham, Hayes Queen, and Harold Queen and several nieces and nephews.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Linda Ensley Queen, daughter, Terri Lynn Queen of Asheville, and son Timothy R. Queen (Yvette) of Charlotte. His three grandsons: Joseph Dee Marvin, Jaden Charles Marvin, and Kasher Charles Queen, brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by siblings: Elaine Greene (Bill) of Westminster, SC, Jerry Queen (Peggy) of Sylva, and Sandra Hedden (Bruce) of Franklin, NC. Brother-in-law, Dee Allen Ensley (Joan) of Sylva, and sister-in-law, Lila Jo Queen, along with several nieces and nephews, complete the cherished family circle.

Funeral services to honor Charles will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at East Sylva Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Charles Dean. Prior to the service, friends can pay their respects from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the church. Following the service, burial will take place in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the East Sylva Baptist Church, specifically to the building or kitchen fund, at 61 Faith Ave, Sylva, NC 28779. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the 2nd-floor nursing staff at Harris Regional Hospital and Four Seasons Hospice for their exceptional care.
