Charles E. Rice, a beloved member of the community, passed away on January 26, 2025, at Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was 80 years old. He was born on April 29, 1944, in Glomar, Perry County, Kentucky, to Willie Rice and Willie Mae Wright Rice.
Charles dedicated 18 years of his life to working for Fayette County waste water management, where he was known for his commitment and dedication to his work. Throughout his life, he found joy in simple pleasures, often enjoying fishing and spending quality time visiting with family and neighbors. His warm spirit and kindness left an indelible mark on those around him.
He was affiliated with the Pentecostal Church, Charles was known for his strong faith and his unwavering belief in the importance of community and family. He cherished his role as a father and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love through his son, Jesse Daniel Rice, and daughter, Glenda Young. He was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a devoted great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren.
Charles' family tree includes his brother-in-law, Kenny Young, and sister-in-law, Cheryl Rice, who both mourn his passing alongside his loved ones. He is remembered fondly by his special friend, Mary Sue Witzel, who brought joy to his life.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sadie Rice, along with his son, Donald Wayne Rice. He also leaves behind cherished memories of his late parents, Willie Rice and Willie Mae Wright Rice, his stepmother Hester, and his sisters and brothers, Mary Jane Landrum, Betty Young, and Ellen Purvis, Jim Rice, Bradley "Brad" Rice.
Charles E. Rice will be deeply missed, not only by his family but by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
Funeral: Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.
Ministers: P.J. Mitchell and Jamie Roberts
Interment: Lewis Family Cemetery, Thousandsticks, KY.
Visitation: Sat. Feb. 1st at 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
