Sharilyn Collett, respectfully known by most as, Sharon, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 4th, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, at the age of 66. Born on March 16, 1959, in Leslie County, Kentucky, Sharilyn was a caring and compassionate individual who dedicated many years of her life to serving others as a Nurse Aid at Mary Mount Hospital in London, KY, until she became disabled.
Sharilyn was known for her kind and loving spirit. She had a great sense of humor, often bringing joy to family gatherings with her playful pranks. Above all, she prioritized her family, always being there for them when they needed her the most. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unmatched, creating countless cherished memories through family dinners and shared moments outdoors, which she adored.
She leaves behind her loving children: son David Collett & wife Kasey of Essie, KY; daughters Amy Simpson and her husband Dwight of Winchester, KY; and Keyesha Collett of Winchester, KY. She is also survived by her two brothers, Murile Morgan and his wife Elaine of Essie, KY, and Doug Morgan and his wife Phyllis of Manchester, KY; as well as her two sisters, Frances Gibson of Manchester, KY, and Oma Jean Hacker and her husband Riley, Jr. of Stinnett, KY. Sharilyn’s legacy of love continues through her seven cherished grandchildren: Denzil Hudson, Jacob Hudson and his wife Elizabeth, Haylee Collett, Parker Collett, MaKenzie Collett, Nathan Simpson and his wife Athenia, and Franziska Estep and her husband Jonathon. She also leaves behind her thirteen adored great grandchildren, her cherished sisters-in-law, Mary Brown & her husband Lonnie Dean of Essie, KY, and Cledith Brown & her husband Ralph of Stinnett, KY. A host of nieces, nephews, other treasured family and friends also survive her passing.
Sharilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Eva Sizemore Morgan; her husband, Denzil Collett; her brothers, Oakley, Leon, and Walter Morgan; her sisters, Elva Morgan, Sarah Brock, Ruth Hill, and Rebecca Hacker; and her great grandson Brayden Hudson.
A funeral service to honor Sharilyn's life will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM, also at Muncy Creek Holiness Church with Jeff Hacker, Eugene "Friday" Roberts, and Ralph Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in the Albert Morgan Cemetery at Essie, KY with Denzil Hudson, Jacob Hudson, David Collett, Keyesha Collett, Ronald Gibson, Jason Morgan, and Freddie Williams serving as pallbearers.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, beginning at 5:00 PM at Muncy Creek Holiness Church, Stinnett, KY.
