Charles Spencer Ridings

Charles Spencer Ridings, age 83, of Winchester, VA passed away in his home on November 5, 2025, after his struggle with Leukemia.
Spencer was born July 21, 1942, in Morgantown, West Virginia, to Charles and Gladys Ridings. He was a graduate from West Virginia University with a BS in Business Administration. He went on to work for Mobil Oil Corporation for 35 years starting as an accountant, then an applications programmer, and then again as a network engineer. His work colleagues called him Chuck and he was known for his problem-solving skills. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors hiking, camping, and cycling with family and friends. He was not only a member of but organized, led, and road with Winchester Wheelman and Bicycle Adventure Club.
Spencer would work the summers in Atlantic City, NJ sometimes working two to three jobs to pay for college. Spencer met Ruth in the summer of 63 while she was on vacation with her friends. Spencer proposed to Ruth while eating ice cream on the steps of a church in Atlantic City.
Spencer married Ruth (Davis) Ridings in the spring of 1964, and together they shared 39 wonderful years and raised two children before passing in 2003. Spencer found another loving companion with Karen (Corsino) Ridings, with whom he shared 21 years. Through this marriage he was blessed with a blended family that brought him happiness.
Spencer is survived by his wife, Karen Ridings; his children Scott Ridings (wife Darby) and Chris Ridings (wife Elizabeth, and their children Timothy and Johnathan); stepchildren Marla DiVietro (husband Jeff and their children Ruby and Sophie) and Carlin Corsino (wife Ashleigh and their children Alma and Huckleberry); his siblings James and Jennifer.

Spencer was a long-time member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church. A celebration of his life will be held on December 6 at 10:00am at Braddock Street United Methodist Church where we will remember him for his loyalty, kindness, generosity, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
