Charles "Bubba" Henry Sanders, Sr., 90, of Pine Bluff, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024.
He was born April 9, 1934, in Grapevine, AR, to Jim and Ruby Rodgers Sanders. Charles was reared in Sherrill, AR.
At a young age he began working with his father in the house moving business. He was a 2nd generation house mover for Sanders House Moving. He dedicated his profession to the family business, which was founded in 1939 by his father, Jim Sanders. Eventually, Charles broke off and started his own company, also known as Sanders House Moving at Pine Bluff. During his years in business, he moved thousands of structures. Charles was instrumental in the restoration and preservation of several historical homes in and around Southeast Arkansas by moving the structures to their preserved locations. One of the most memorable moves was of, at the time, the largest pleasure boat built in Arkansas, the "Betty B II". It was moved from Monticello to Pine Bluff where it was launched into the Arkansas River. The local news reported that the crew had to fix three broken axles and 18 flats and pay a lady for running over her turnip green patch.
Sanders House Moving opened in 1939 and celebrates its 85th year in business this year, 2024 and is currently under 4th generation operation. Bubba was a 50 plus year member of The International Structural Movers Association, whose slogan is, "Save a Tree, Move a House."
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Sanders; former wives, Katherine Sanders Cook, mother of his children, and Elizabeth Ann Sanders; sisters, Peggy Bryant, Margaret Selvey and Betty Sue Thomas; and brother, Roger Sanders.
Survivors include his son, Charles "Quail" Sanders, Jr. (Sandy); his daughters, Cheryl Givens (Chuck) and Judy Sanders; sisters, Reecy Wetmore and Ida Daniels; and brother, Larry Joe Sanders (Kim). He was also blessed with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Chuck Givens, Jordan Givens, Amanda Givens, Corey Sanders, Chad Sanders and Jim Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Castleberry, Tracy Robinson and Eddie Lee Sledge.
The family would like to take the opportunity to thank Bubba's caregiver and long-time friend, Linda Sawyer. They would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice of White Hall for their dedication and time.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors with Brother Jimmy Herring officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Robinson's.

He definitely always let you know what was on his mind and definitely tought me some things along my life. Moving houses with Chad Stevie and Papa was one of my first job experiences I had. I remember some long hot summers moving them houses and leveling floors. He definitely had a passion and nitch for it . As well as the nights at the Bud Robinson auction. The memories I have will always be something special to me that I can always look back on. We will miss you papa rest easy.
