Charles Joseph "Chuck" Schneider, age 78, of St. Charles passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Haven of Rest in Owosso.
Chuck was eldest of six children born to William Don and Bertha Beatrice (Raddatz) Schneider of Williamston, Michigan on August 27, 1946. He graduated from Williamston High School in 1964 and then served in the Army National Guard where he was called by Presidential Executive Order to serve during the Detroit riots in 1967. Chuck married Linda Mires on November 6, 1965, and they had two daughters together, Bethany and Lori. Both daughters had a very special relationship with their father, and they love and miss him dearly.
Chuck worked as a foreman at the Lansing Board of Water and Light, beginning his employment in 1966 and retiring in January of 2002 after 35 years of service. After his retirement, Chuck and wife Sylvia enjoyed traveling across the country together. After selling their hobby farm in Williamston, they purchased property in Colorado where they built a log home. Chuck was a gifted woodworker and made most of the furniture in their home from Aspen trees that grew on their land. After leaving Colorado, they built a home in Arizona, eventually moving back to Michigan to be closer to family. Chuck and Sylvia were married for 30 years before her passing in 2021.
After Sylvia's passing, Chuck met an angel named Linda Klump when she happened to share the church pew one Sunday morning where he normally sat. After spending time together at weekly Bible study and breakfast gatherings after church services, Chuck and Linda fell in love and married in 2022. They shared a deep connection and friendship until her passing in 2025. Chuck mourned Linda's passing until his final breath.
Chuck was a man of faith that loved and served the Lord throughout his lifetime. He lived his life in the service of others. When he was not volunteering at church or helping someone in need, Chuck enjoyed birdwatching, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Chuck was a man of many talents. He was an extraordinary gunsmith and woodworker, winning first place ribbons at gun shows for masterfully crafted black powder rifles.
Chuck is survived by his two daughters, Bethany Ford and Lori (Nicole) Schneider; grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Paige, and Marco; sisters, Suzanne (Darryl) Rabideau, Marilyn (Kaye) Douglas, and Mary (Kevin) Schneider; along with many loving friends and family. He was predeceased by his second wife, Sylvia Schneider; his third wife, Linda Klump; his parents, Don and Bea Schneider; two younger brothers, a brother-in-law, and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 22, 2025, at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Pastor Cal Emerson will officiate. A private internment will take place at a later date at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Charles Schneider to Memorial Home Health and Hospice, Haven of Rest of Shiawassee County, or Oakley Community Church. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
