With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles William "Bill" Shannon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, who left this world peacefully on March 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on June 17, 1934, in New Richmond, Ohio, Bill was a vibrant presence in the lives of those who knew him and loved him.
In life, Bill was not only a devoted family man but also a spirited member of his community. He spent many blissful mornings gathering with friends at Bob Evans Restaurant, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air as they shared stories over breakfast. His love for sports resonated deeply; Bill proudly served as an usher for both the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals, finding joy in the thrill of the game and the community it fostered. His passion extended to the thrilling world of car racing, as he dedicated his time to the Tri-County and Queen City Speedways, where he relished the excitement of the races and the friendships he forged along the way.
Bill's nurturing spirit extended to his love of gardening, a hobby that brought him immense pride. His vibrant garden was a testament to his patience and care, producing blooms that mirrored the warmth and beauty he shared with his family. Above all, Bill loved his family deeply.
Bill was an active member of the Union Township Zoning Board for many years as well as being active in the Shriner's Directors Staff. He was also a 65 year member of the Clermont Social Masonic Lodge.
Bill was also a devoted member of his church, finding solace and strength in his faith. His unwavering commitment to his beliefs guided him and inspired those around him.
Bill leaves behind his children, Terri Shannon and Gary Bowsher, Charles "Chuck" William Jr. and Christa; four grandchildren, Jody Darrell Shannon and Ashley, Stephanie Ballinger, Stacey Shannon and Chris Lane, Tracey Shannon and Carl Kearney, two great-grandchildren, Madison Ballinger and Blake Inlow, his brother Warren Russell Jackson and his sister Linda Carol Troxell.
A funeral service will be held in his honor at Evans Funeral Home in Milford on March 25, 2025, at 10:00 am. Friends and family are invited to join for visitation at the same venue on March 24, 2025, starting at 6:00 pm. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Bill Shannon will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and through the memories shared. May he rest in peace.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Wanda Shannon and his brother Donald Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Shriner's Children Hospital or Hospice of Cincinnati.
