Charles J. Sheaf, Jr., a lifelong resident of the Lambertville area, died at his home in Readington, NJ on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was 78 years old.
Born in Trenton, NJ, Charles grew up in Lambertville and attended Lambertville Public School and South Hunterdon Regional High School. He was an independent antique dealer, continuing a 100 year family business tradition. Charles had a knowing eye for cherished items from the past, their history and value. He was often called in to appraise and liquidate estate collections. His business was largely based in Hunterdon and Bucks counties.
Charles was devoted to his family. He enjoyed family picnics, fishing and working on cars. He liked to play Pogo on line. Yard work was a favorite pastime. He would often arrive without warning and tend to a relative's yard that he felt needed attention. His favorite color was green. Charles loved the music of Pink Floyd and the Mac and Cheese at Wawa.
Charles was the husband of the late Katherine Maude Burket Sheaf, the son of the late Charles J. Sheaf, Sr. and Jane Amaral Sheaf and the brother of the late Joann Hewitt and Barbara Burket. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Charles J. Sheaf III and his wife Melanie of Flemington, Katherine Wengryn and her husband Raymond of East Amwell, Casandra Bilicki and her Husband Andrew Winona Mn, and Joann Ruth of Flemington; his grandchildren Raymond Wengryn, Travis Wengryn, Christopher Wengryn, Thomas Wengryn, Robert Cronce, George Cronce, Austin Sheaf and his wife LeeAnn, Logan Sheaf, Gavin Sheaf, Colton Sheaf, Amber Airoldi and her husband Theodore, Robert Ruth and Jacob Williams; his great grandchildren Aryia Wengryn, Theodore Airoldi and Eleanor Airoldi; and his siter Louise Stalter and her husband Robert.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21,2024 at 11 am at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08520 (vhnfh.com). Rev. David Errickson of the Old Rocks Church of the Amwells will officiate.
Ther will be visiting at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 am until the start of services.
