Charles L. Sheets

Charles L. "Charlie" Sheets, Sr., 96, of Peach Bottom, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Virginia Mae (Ferguson) Sheets, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2011.

Born in Peach Bottom, he was the son of the late Jesse, Sr., and Beulah (Caldwell) Sheets.

Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 – 1953. For most of his life he worked in the timber industry for Peach Bottom Lumber as a saw mill operator. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he was well-known for his skills in trap shooting.

He is survived by his children: Kathleen (Richard) Spon, of Strasburg Township, Michael (Vivian) Sheets, of Quarryville, Emily (Robert) Work, of Strasburg Township, Edward Sheets, of Peach Bottom, Doris (Bob) Mastandrea, of Willow Street, and Shirley Myers, of Quarryville. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Roger (Connie) Sheets, and a sister, Joyce (Stewart) Gyles, both of Peach Bottom. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles L. "Luke" Sheets, Jr., and brothers, Jesse, Jr., Alvin, Doug "Mac", F. Glen, and Donald.

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until Noon, and a service at Noon, on Monday, August 18, at Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, 227 West 4th Street, Quarryville, PA 17566. Interment will be private.
