Chuck attended one year in college in Vermillion, SD before moving to Satanta, Kansas to work in his sister's (Clara) and her husbands (Walt) filing station. When the children were grown and out of the house the couple moved to Havana, Arkansas to help his in-laws transition from the home to living with a daughter.
In 2004 they returned to Madison where he lived out the rest of his life. He loved to play cards, camp with friends, keep a great yard, garden, and he restored old Jeep Willys.
Greatful for having shared in his life, wife Wanda Sheffield, two daughters, Jarri (Clay) Leighton of Madison, SD and Kelli Sheffield of Greensboro, NC. One daugther-in-law, Nancy (Sheffield) Turner of Reno, Nevada, and one sister Clara Mclver of Cheney, Kansas. Six grandchildren, Cole (Kyla) Leighton of Omaha, NE.
