Charles Shields Obituary

Published by Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery on Aug. 18, 2013.
SHIELDS, CHARLES O. went home to the Lord on August 18, 2013. During his 96 years, he touched many lives with his strong character, high moral standards and ethical behavior. He was the epitome of a loving husband and father, brilliant attorney and counselor and loyal mentor and friend. Charlie's values never wavered – God first, family and friends second, and business third. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1942 and immediately went into the Army to serve his country. He met Ruth, the love of his life and they married in 1949, settling in Dallas. His legal practice grew and he became well known in legal and business circles. He was devoted to his wife and family until his last breath. He is survived by his five children and six grandchildren. Charlie was also an active member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and a strong advocate for the residents of Denton State Supported Living Center. He donated his time and talent to advance the interests of others. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home in The Abbey, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, August 21st from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, 4124 Oak Lawn Avenue, Dallas, Texas on Thursday, August 22, 2013, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. A private burial will be held before the service. The family requests that donations be made in his memory to American Heart Association, in lieu of flowers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of your family. Mr. Shields was a very sweet man, I was happy to have known him when he lived at Highland Springs.
