Funeral services for Mr. Charles W. “Sonny” Simmons, Sr., 88, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Victory Baptist Church in Monroe, with Dr. Grant Bamburg officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe. Interment will follow at Crowville Masonic Cemetery in Crowville, LA. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the church.
Sonny was born on October 17, 1936, and passed away August 21, 2025. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Sonny was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a former owner of AGRI Oil in Tensas Parish, former marshal at Frenchman’s Bend Golf Club, as well as a former auxiliary Deputy with the Tensas Parish Sheriff’s office.
Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Beall Simmons; son, Chuck Simmons; mother, Annie Lee Wade; father, Charles “Sleepy” Simmons; and stepfather, Arnold Wade.
Survivors include his sister, Pat Wade Dean; and brother-in-law, J.W. Dean; his nephews, Jay Dean (Tamara), Jeff Dean (Holley), Steve Brumfield (Kathy), and Mike Brumfield (Jane); niece, Donna Brumfield Williams; numerous great nieces and nephews; as well as a multitude of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church or your favorite charity in Sonny’s honor.
