Charles Edward Smith, age 51, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at home in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be held Friday, May 23 from 6-7 pm in the Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. Service will be held Saturday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. at The First Baptist Church in Stamford, burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery.

He was born on July 21, 1973, in Beeville, Texas, to Dodson Sinclair Smith and Addie Faye Crisp. He was a 1992 graduate of Sweetwater High School.

On March 18, 2016, in Austin, Texas, Charles married the love of his life and soulmate, Casey Mueller Smith. Together, they built a beautiful life full of love and laughter and were blessed with five amazing children: Keontay, Zai, Keyven, Gabby, and Quinten.

Charles was a sports lover and a lifelong Dallas Cowboys and Stamford Bulldogs fan. He had a deep love for family, friends, and conversation; often the life of the gathering, full of laughter, stories, and more than a few inspirational speeches. With his towering height and undeniable presence, Charles naturally became the center of attention wherever he went. He was larger than life in every way, loud, always smiling, a good dancer, and full of joy. He loved hard, worked hard, never met a stranger, and believed in tough love as a true form of care. His happy place was in his backyard, sitting beside Casey, watching the grandkids play, and soaking in the joy of the simple life.

He spent his career in construction, where he built more than just structures. He built lifelong friendships and a reputation as a hard worker with a kind heart. His siblings were his built-in best friends, and any time they were together, you could count on a lot of laughs, storytelling, and a whole lot of love.

Charles had a steadfast faith in God and took comfort in knowing his eternal home was with Jesus.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Melvin Mueller.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Casey; his children: Keontay and Allie of Abilene, Zai and Lyndi of Abilene, Keyven and Haley of Anson, Gabby of Waco, and Quinten of Abilene; his precious grandchildren: Kamauri, Amaris, Gracelynn, Kamdynn, Alauna, and Scottlyn; his siblings: Bobby Crisp of Stamford, Alice and Gaylon Davis of Lubbock, Dodson and Clarissa Smith of Lubbock, Rufus Smith of Stamford, Sharon and Dwight Dargan of Lubbock, and Cassie and Tony Delce of Stamford; mother-in-law Patty Mueller, brother-in-law Coby and Jennifer Mueller of Stamford, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, an abundance of amazing friends, and his loyal dog, Reece Charles Smith.

Charles's legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and deep connection. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered with enduring love.
