Charles Lenzi Sonntag, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed from this life into paradise on March, 2, 2026 at the age of 81 due to complications of his age and Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on April 17, 1944 to Robert R. Sonntag and Ethel Lenzi in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is the third of 5 children.

He graduated from Highland High school in Salt Lake City. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1964–1967 in Bavarian area of then Western Germany. Upon returning honorably, he married Leslie Joan Solomon in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity on October 5, 1967. He served during the Vietnam war in Munich Germany as a linguist specialist 1968-1970. He then graduated from college with a mechanical engineering degree.

Chuck and Joan have 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. It was important for them to raise their family in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was stalwart and faithful to his God and religion. He held many church callings in his life and served each one as it was the most important way to show his love to the Lord and Savior. Though life has its complications, joys and disappointments; his faithfulness and his testimony never wavered in God and Christ. He always said God lives.

His parents Robert & Ethel preceded him in death, and also his brother Robert Jr. and brother David.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, his children Elizabeth Kay (Andrew), Jeffrey (DeeDee), Timothy (Melissa), Cynthia Hieb (Matt), Kristine, Kenneth (Sarah), and Angela. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also by his sister Anne Bruner and his brother Paul Sonntag.
