Charles Clinton Sorenson, age 85, of Liberal, Missouri passed away July 28, 2024, at St. Luke's Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri.
Charles was born August 5, 1938 in Liberal, Missouri, to Ralph Sorenson and Violet (King) Sorenson. On October 24, 1959, Charles married Nancy Ann Essex in Liberal, Missouri.
Charles served our country as an acquisition radar operator in the D Battery, 5th Missile Battalion-55th Artillery of the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from 1961 to 1964.
Charles was a farmer and lifelong resident of Liberal, Missouri. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in various sporting events over the years. Charles was a member of the Mindenmines Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly (Joel) Dermott of Liberal, Missouri; one son, Charles (Doris) Sorenson of Joplin, Missouri; four grandchildren, Amanda (Dustin) Davison of Liberal, Missouri, Sara (Lindsey) Watson of Greenfield, Missouri, Tucker (Jess) Dermott of Wheaton, Missouri and Jacob Dermott of Joplin, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Rowdy Davison, Kyle Watson, Riley Watson, Ava Lombard, Carter Lombard, Hazel Dermott and Hadley Dermott.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Sorenson; his parents, and his grandson, Everett Vance.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal, MO.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to Mindenmines Christian Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
