CHARLES W. SULLIVAN

SULLIVAN, Charles (Charlie) W. Age 69, of Roslindale, died at his home on December 21, 2024, after a brief illness. Charlie held many interesting jobs throughout his life, but maintaining the beauty of The Boston Public Garden was his favorite. He held that position twice during his career with the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, from where he retired in March of 2019. His days in "The Garden" were always a flurry of activity, but he always found time to help tourist with directions and hand out treats to his furry friends. He had fond memories of and spoke often about his teenage job working for his uncle, Frank Cogliano, at the Blueview Nurseries. For over 30 years, every Saturday, he used his sales skills hawking cheese at Harry's Cold Cuts and Cheeses in Boston's Haymarket. He made long-term friends and found lots of other social and job opportunities through his time at the Haymarket. Charlie loved road trips and frequently spent time with his extended family in South Bend and at Waubee Lake in Indiana. Sharing his wild stories with a Midwest audience was just a "pissa" of a time for him. His love for sports brought him much joy and occasionally a little monetary delight. His love for Fenway and the Sox has always been a constant in his life, from weekly games with his cousins as a kid to enjoying the "good seats" with his beloved wife, Cindy, as often as he could. Charlie's life was cut short, with so much left to do, but being around his family and sharing some of his life lessons with them gave him great joy, especially this past Thanksgiving. He leaves his wife, Cynthia ("Cindy") D. Lee-Sullivan of Roslindale; his cherished daughter Melissa Rose (Schnookas) Magner; his son-in-law Bob; and his three grandchildren, Rose Margaret, Mary Grace and Robert Charles, whom he absolutely adored, all of Duxbury. He will be sorely missed by all of his in-laws; also, especially his nephew, Casey Dow, who held a special place in his heart. We were so lucky to have amazing nurses at the Brigham, who kept Charlie chuckling, swearing and comfortable. Next time you bump into a nurse, give them a thank you from us. The folks at the Good Shepherd Hospice and Bayada Nursing Care were wonderful as well. They are truly angels and we are forever grateful. Celebration of Life happening in the future.
