Charles “Butch” Daniel Toler, 81, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Jenny Wilkins officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM and other times at his home. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Charles was born in Guilford County to the late Gilford Lynn Toler and Nettie Myrtle Preston Toler-Massey. Charles, was a devoted and accomplished father, grandfather and friend, driven by a deep passion for helping others. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army Military Police, stationed in Germany. With numerous certifications and degrees, he went on to become a Master Electrician, eventually sharing his expertise as an Instructor of Electrical Technologies at GTCC for more than a decade.
He was a dedicated member of the AA Open Door Recovery Ministry, providing guidance and support to those in need. In his free time, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as riding his bike, listening to music, playing his guitar with friends and family and spending time with his beloved cats. His legacy of strength, kindness, and passion for life will be forever cherished.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Clara Jane Kenyon Toler; 3 children that died in Infancy, Alma Jane Toler, Charles Daniel Toler Jr. and Baby Boy Toler; siblings, Della Toler Jones, Jane Toler Shown, Elton Toler, Minnie Toler Parsons, Carrie Toler Bartlett, Doris Toler Norman, Kathleen Toler Peoples, and Frank Toler.
Charles is survived by daughter, Mary “Faith” Toler; sons, William “James” Toler (Claddy), Charles “Andrew” Toler (Caitlin Helm); grandchildren, Gabriel Davis (Erin), Ethan Toler (Hannah) and Caleb Davis; sister, Brenda Toler Rakes (Arnold) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a large loving group of extended family and friends.
