Louis Earl Toler Sr.

Louis Earl Toler, Sr. completed his earthly journey on January 19, 2026, and is enjoying his heavenly Father. The Lord said your work on earth is finished – come home. Louis' prayer was to have a glad reunion day; with all of his family and loved ones to join him in heaven.
Funeral service will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Vanceboro Free Will Holiness Church. Burial will follow the service in Celestial Memorial Gardens in Vanceboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church.
Louis was born on August 6, 1937, in Blounts Creek, NC, to the late Parley Bell Toler Ryals and Ralph Earl Toler.
He is survived by his Wife of 67 years, Joyce Dixon Toler; Daughter, Beverly Joy Connor (Stan); and Son, Louis Earl Toler, Jr. of Vanceboro, NC; Grandchildren, Alan Connor (Lindsey), Matthew Connor (Katie), and Mindy Toler Sullins (Mitch); Great-Grandchildren, Kylie, Kaylin, Camden, and Cade Connor, Annabelle Gaskins, Mason and Myla Sullins; His sister, Lynn Ryals Pannell (Richard) of Bristol, VA; Niece, Michaela Gemmell (Scott); Nephew, William Pannell (Hannah); Great-nephews, Graham and Liam Pannell; and Great-niece, Evie Grace Pannell. Each one held a special place in his heart.
Louis grew up in the Chocowinity area and attended Washington High School. His hobbies were drag racing and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He was the best mechanic who loved working on cars, especially Chevrolet. He enjoyed restoring antique cars for a living. Louis' greatest joy was always helping others. His greatest joy was serving the Lord, going to church and cooking for his family and friends.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice Health Care of New Bern, and all of the special caregivers; especially, Thomas Clegg, for a wonderful job helping the family during a difficult journey.
