Stephen Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strickland & Family Cremations & Funeral Services on Feb. 18, 2026.
Stephen Richard Brown of Remington, Va., passed away on February 9, 2026, in Midlothian, Va. He was 55 years old.

Born on August 8, 1970, in South Amboy, N.J., Stephen grew up in Ambler, Pa., moving there in June 1979. He enjoyed playing baseball in the Ambler Little League, and he was a Boy Scout with Troop 540 at St. Joseph's Church. He attended Mattison Avenue Elementary School, Shady Grove, Wissahickon Middle School, and Wissahickon High School. He was a pole vaulter for two years on the Wissahickon High School track team.

After graduating from high school in 1988, Mr. Brown moved to Dale City, Va., where he worked in the construction industry. A gifted handyman, he later operated his own successful home remodeling business for several years in Remington.

Despite living most of his adult life in Virginia, Stephen remained a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports teams, especially enjoying the Eagles' Super Bowl victories in 2018 and 2025. He frequently visited the Ambler area as he was able, often assisting friends and family with home improvement projects. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time at the beach.

In 2024, Stephen battled leukemia, with the cancer going into remission following chemotherapy. The leukemia returned in 2025. After valiantly fighting the disease for several months, Stephen passed peacefully at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center on February 9.

Stephen is survived by his mother, A. Irene Brown, of Ambler; brother David Brown and wife Laurie of Vineland, N.J.; brother Jason Brown of Ambler; a son, Stephen "Alex" Brown and wife Abigail of Greenville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Allie May Brown, of Greenville; and four nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was predeceased by his wife, Rosalia Zito Brown, of Remington, and by his father, Rev. David B. Brown of Ambler.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a future date.
