Charles Richard Traynor, of Levittown, PA, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on May 6, 2024. He was 93 years old. Born on July 4, 1930 in Philadelphia, Charles was the son of the late Charles R. and Ruth (Miller) Traynor.
Charles dutifully and honorably served his country in the United States Navy Reserves for 4 years. He married the love of his life, Shirley Mae Traynor in 1954, lived a full and blessed life raising their family, until her passing in 1991. He was a humble man of few words, diligent, industrious, and extremely detail-oriented. He began his career as a tool and die machinist, eventually gaining experience in the engineering field and went on to spend his career as a manufacturing engineer with De Laval Steam Turbine Company in Trenton, New Jersey until his retirement in 1986.
In his younger years as a father, Charles found great pleasure capturing family moments with a big bright bulb in one hand and his camera in the other that he was able to share and pass on to the generations following him. He had a passion for model trains and spent countless hours building upon his many platforms and studying the engines and cars with a trained eye, even recreating them through sketches, drawn to scale. He was equally passionate about his Phillies and enjoyed relaxing at home watching each game.
He will be eternally missed by his family and friends; however, they find comfort in knowing that he is with his Savior and Lord and is once again reunited with Shirley and his son Billy.
Charles is survived by his loving children – Susan Bittenbender (Mark), Florence Ann Herb, Debra Louise Widman (Robert), Richard Lee Traynor (Christine), Timothy Allen Traynor, and John Charles Traynor (Irene) as well as numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings – Doris Elaine Lafaver, Donald Traynor, and by his son Charles William "Billy" Traynor (21 months of age).
Family and friends are invited to Charles' Life Celebration on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 9:30-10:30am at Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home, 378 South Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047. His Funeral Service will follow at 10:30am.
Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Abington.
