GRAND RAPIDS -- Charles "Chuck" Treen, 76 of Grand Rapids, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2025 with his daughters and grandson/best friend Max by his side. Chuck was born on February 16, 1949, in Kenton, Ohio to Keith Emerson Treen and Francis Maxine (Miller) Treen.
Raised in Grand Rapids, Chuck graduated from Grand Rapids High School with the class of 1967, it was here he met his lifelong love. On July 20, 1968, he married LouEllen "Ellie" Hackworth at the United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids, Ohio, beginning a journey that spanned over 50 years.
Chuck dedicated 37 years of his life to Clarke-American Lincoln before continuing his working career at Otsego Local Schools overseeing the custodial and maintenance teams. He was known for his unwavering work ethic.
More than his work, Chuck lived fully in the roles of husband, father, papa, coach, mentor, and friend. He was a gifted athlete and umpire, a steady presence on the sidelines and in the stands. Through long workdays, he still made time to cheer on his "girls" and grandchildren, celebrating their achievements.
He found joy in the simple things: road trips with Ellie to Tennessee, tending his garden, casting a fishing line with his grandkids, or watching his beloved Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Guardians, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Every moment spent with his family was a treasure.
Chuck's heart was open to all-he never met a stranger, only friends he hadn't known yet. Our hearts are heavier now, but we take comfort in the image of mom and dad, reunited at last, dancing together again.
Chuck is survived by his daughters Michelle Dawson of Waterville, Jennifer (Jeff) Helberg of Bowling Green, and Lisa (Jason) Molnar of Bowling Green, his grandchildren Brittany (Cody) George, Zachery and Tyler Dawson, Sadie and Chase Helberg, and Max Molnar, and his sister Dianna (Richard) Badik. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ellie, his parents, and his brother Keith "Fritz" Treen.
A visitation to honor Chuck's life will be held at the Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd. Waterville, Ohio on Monday, May 19th from 4:00p.m.-7:00p.m. His funeral service will be held Tuesday May 20, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home 7220 Dutch Rd. Waterville, Ohio.
