Sumner Funeral & Cremation - GallatinCharles Allen “Buddy” Vantrease, age 78 of Gallatin, TN passed away Monday, March 16, 2026. He was born in Gallatin, TN on May 27, 1947 to Roy and Gladys Belle Barber Vantrease.
Buddy grew up in Gallatin, spending time on the family-owned Crescent Hill Dairy Farm. He was a member of the 1965 graduating class from Gallatin High School. He was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he began a career with the United States Postal Service, retiring after more than 30 years of service. He loved his community, donating his time and efforts with many causes. He also worked with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.
Buddy was preceded in death by parents and brother, Stephen “Big Steve” Vantrease. He is survived by sons, Allen (Ashley) Vantrease and Aaron (Amber) Vantrease; siblings, Wayne (Pat) Vantrease, Martha Jo Vantrease, Margaret (Robert) Lankford, and Melba Kepley; grandchildren, Sophie, Deacon, Felicity, and Reagan; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A celebration of Buddy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Gallatin First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2026 and Saturday, from 10:00 a.m until the time of service at the church.
