Cody Wilson Powers, born June 26, 1981, to Dan Wilson Powers and Janice Yvonne Ashworth Powers, originally of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Yvonne Ashworth Powers; his paternal grandparents, Ruby and Willard Powers; and his maternal grandparents, Mary and Jimmie Reeder.

He is survived by his beloved son, Bryce Wilson Powers; his father, Dan Wilson Powers, and stepmother, Cheryl Powers; his sisters, Dana Powers Clinard (Brandon) of White House, Tennessee, and Rachel Powers Lassiter (Lawren) of Gallatin, Tennessee; his cherished nephews and niece, Silas, Aidan, and Savannah Davis; Nick Clinard; Leyton and Liam Lassiter; and his great-nephew, Weston Davis.

Cody graduated from Gallatin High School and later attended Volunteer State Community College, where he also worked for several years. He went on to complete his practical nursing diploma from Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Livingston, where he was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society in recognition of his excellence in Career and Technical Education. Cody worked as a licensed practical nurse at Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston, Tennessee, where he found deep fulfillment caring for patients on the medical-surgical unit.

Exceptionally intelligent and multi-talented, Cody was a gifted artist and musician, a skilled chess player, and an avid reader with a particular love for history. In his youth, he was a standout baseball player, earning All-Star recognition as a shortstop and pitcher. He treasured time spent fishing with his father—especially fly fishing on the Caney Fork River in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee—and he also enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with those he loved. Cody was known for his sharp wit, warm humor, and kind spirit.

Cody faced illness for much of his life with courage and perseverance. In 2025, he celebrated six years of sobriety—an accomplishment of which he was deeply proud. Above all, Cody’s faith was central to his life. Having accepted Jesus Christ at a young age, he held firmly to his faith and the hope it brought him. It was this faith, along with the steadfast devotion and love of his parents and family, that sustained him through life’s most difficult seasons.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
