Charles G. “Charlie” Weeks, 61, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away on November 3, 2025, at Diversicare of Council Grove.

Charlie was born on August 29, 1964, in Council Grove to Mary Weeks. He attended Wilsey Grade School and graduated from Council Grove High School in 1983.

A lifelong resident of Council Grove, Charlie was known for his gentle spirit, quiet determination, and kind heart. His mother worked at the historic Hays House, where she helped him get his first job washing dishes. Charlie took great pride in his work and faithfully walked to and from his job for 36 years, until his retirement due to health reasons. Charlie was very proud of his longevity at Hays House.

Charlie was an avid reader and rock collector, and he also taught himself to sew. He found joy in learning new skills and took great satisfaction in creating and discovering things on his own.

He shared close friendships with Tom Essington and Joe Garcia, who remained lifelong companions. Charlie also received devoted support and care from his dear friends and caregivers, Merry Barker and Beth Watts, whose kindness and friendship greatly enriched his life.

Charlie was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Veronica Weeks; his mother, Mary Weeks; and his aunt, Josephine Fortner.

He is survived by his sister, Kathy Zimmerman (Steve) of Sedan, Kansas; nieces Krystal Thurman (Nick) of Sedan, Kansas; Becca Dumais (Anthony) of Greenfield, Quebec, Canada; and Ashlyn Zimmerman of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by step-niece Allison Blakemore of Sedan, Kansas; step-nephews Jarot Blakemore of Sedan, Kansas; Nathan Zimmerman of Peru, Kansas; and Javen Zimmerman of Sedan, Kansas; along with 13 great-nieces and nephews.

Charlie will be remembered for his loyalty, gentle humor, and genuine appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, at Sawyer Funeral Home in Council Grove. Charlie’s caregivers asked in lieu of memorials, please reach out and help someone in need.
