Charles Keith "Chuck" Wehling, 80, husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025 in Round Rock, Texas near his home in Georgetown, Texas. Born January 16, 1945 in Enid, Oklahoma, Chuck grew up the cherished son of humble wheat farmers who instilled in him a deep respect for hard, honest work that he emphasized throughout his entire life.
Chuck graduated from Pioneer High School in Waukomis, Oklahoma. He met his beloved wife Eileen Pugh, who worked at the hospital where he was recuperating from a broken back. Four years later they married in 1965 and together they shared 60 years of marriage.
Dedicated to his country, Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. By the time he returned to civilian life, Chuck had earned an offer of promotion to Captain, a reflection of both his leadership and commitment. Chuck attended Oklahoma State University, earning his Bachelor's degree before settling in Texas. With Eileen, Chuck raised two daughters.
In a career spanning over 40 years in Human Resources, Chuck distinguished himself by working with notable companies including Valley Faucet, Texas Instruments, Motorola, Tracor, and Lockheed Martin. Upon retirement, Chuck and Eileen relocated to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas, taking great pleasure in the Texas Hill Country's simple beauties.
As a uniquely skilled craftsman with a distinct talent for woodwork and stone masonry, Chuck took immense pride in building and restoring furniture, stonework, and meticulously manicuring his yard and garden. His craftsmanship extended beyond the traditional; together with Eileen, he customized a family van for vacations and proudly restored a 1966 Mustang. He cherished Big Band music and Classic Country, and was known on any dance floor as an exceptional and playful dancer. Chuck treasured life's simple pleasures: a plate of authentic Texas BBQ and brisket, birthday cherry cheesecake, a good bargain, M*A*S*H reruns, his truck, and the perfect tool for any task. He loved neighborhood gatherings with cherished friends, and often kept loved ones laughing with his memorable stories and jokes.
Chuck found great pride in being a grandfather, fishing with his grandchildren, storytelling, and reflecting with affection on family memories and photos. His sharp wit, charisma, and succinct words of wisdom will be profoundly missed.
Chuck is preceded in death by his infant sister Barbara Charlene and his parents Charles Frederick Wehling and Inez Pipla Wehling.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen, and his loving daughters, Brenna Linn Arredondo and Shannon Wehling Scott; his son in law Rudy Arredondo; his grandchildren Charlie (Robert Charles) Scott, Clara Scott and Lu Scott; his brother in law and wife Gene and Phyllis Pugh and family.
In Chuck's own words, he lived by the tune of Willie Nelson's advice to "Live every day like it was your last one."
He will be laid to rest in accordance to his wishes at Our Lady Of The Rosary Cemetery in the Forest Garden in Georgetown, Texas, surrounded by serene Texas Hill Country, cattle, and native wildflowers– a fitting tribute to a life well-lived. A celebration of his life will follow in the coming months.
Chuck indeed embodied the spirit of a true cowboy, living and departing this life on his own terms. His legacy, wit and advice will endure with us in memory and always remain in our hearts.
