Charles Joseph Weiler

Charles Joseph Weiler passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born on July 31, 1941 to Charles and Ruth Weiler and raised in Maplewood, NJ. Charles was the oldest of 6 children; Robert, Barbara, Nancy, Michael, and Denis. He shared fond memories of spending summers as a lifeguard in Pt. Pleasant and driving cars from his father's dealership. Charles attended Notre Dame which led to a career in architecture. He took great pride in his many projects, and his work is being donated to the Camden County Historical Society. In the 1960's, Charles volunteered with the Peace Corps in Iran. Around this time, he met his first wife, Clare Osman, and went on to have 3 children, Rachel Fricke (m. Bryan Fricke), Chuck Weiler (m. Kara Weiler), and Rebecca Tasso (m. Tim Tasso). His grandchildren from his first marriage include Roger, Lucy, and Roland Fricke, Hannah and Jackson Weiler, and Danny and Luke Tasso.
Later in life, Charles enjoyed the challenging work he did for FEMA and married Marilyn Stein, traveling frequently to Lexington, Kentucky to visit his step daughter, Melissa Schroder –Stein (m. Kelly Schroeder-Stein) and two grandchildren, Alex and Bella. They also enjoyed traveling to Florida, going out to restaurants, listening to music, and organizing family gatherings.
To his children, he will be remembered fondly as a sheepskin-vest and clog wearing architect who spoke fluent Farsi from his Peace Corps days, played the dulcimer and filled his house with Persian rugs, taught his grandchildren to eat dessert before dinner, a grand storyteller, and a kind man.
