Charles Weiss Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills on Aug. 17, 2017.
Charles Frederick Weiss, 77, born on November 9, 1939 in Los Angeles, California, passed away August 17, 2017. He passed away peacefully in his home in Glendale surrounded by his family as he would have desired. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Katherine, his two adult sons Bryan and Michael, seven grandchildren and one great grandson. The passion for people along with his warmth, incredible sense of humor and ebullient personality all enabled him to make invaluable contributions to the people he came in contact. Anyone who enjoyed time with Charles, he left a lasting impression. He had an unbelievable quick wit and would engage in conversation with anyone. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made to the LA Zoo in memory of Charles Weiss.

Chuck Weiss is the reason I chose to be a Monday docent at the zoo. His hilarious fortune cookies with sentiments like "John Lewis would rather be a Monday docent" and "Zookeepers always wave to Monday docents" made it clear that there was at least one person on Mondays with an irreverent wit and I wanted volunteer next to that person. Chuck's sparkling sense of humor, warmth, charm, and generosity made Mondays at the zoo the best place to be. I'll miss him.

Katherine, Bryan, Michael, family and friends, we are so sorry. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with you all. Charles had a great sense of humor. He left a beautiful legacy behind for you all. God bless.

Chuck was such a special person. Even though he was a darn Trojan I loved the rascal. His friendship, impish grin, sense of humor, and the memory of some of his great pranks will not soon be forgotten. I met him as a boss in 1976. From his departure from 20th Century Fox in 1982 (83?) after a hostile take over when I helped him take out his personal boxes to his car until now, I have treasured his friendship.
