April 28, 2024. Born September 14, 1937 in Rochester, New York. Devoted husband to Aldora Hines Wentworth. Son of Charles and Elizabeth Wentworth. Predeceased by siblings, Walt, Dori, Bob, Donnie, Jerry, and Richie. Father to Tim (Robin), Todd (Pam) and Tom (Julie). Stepfather to Mark Redmond, Colleen Johnson (Bill) and John Redmond (Laura). Loved dearly by his 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Charlie, as he was known, was the youngest of seven but always worked hard to prove he was not the baby. Charlie's life was proof that hard work, common sense, and being a good person could yield a productive and prosperous life. He lived his life through the highest degree of ethics and passion. Starting at the very bottom at Sybron Castle Company, he worked his way through night school at RIT to learn drill press and lathe operations. From there he quickly moved to the machine shop, then the model shop and finally into field service where he was ultimately promoted to Director of Field Service for the Northeast. This is where he spent the most of his career. After his retirement from Castle, he successfully embarked on a second career as a real estate agent.
He had a passion for working on all facets of home improvements whether it was his house or someone else's. Charlie's brothers were instrumental in fostering his vast knowledge of the many subjects. He always took much pride in any task or project he was involved with. He passed much of that knowledge to his sons.
Charlie loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, most often accompanied by his son Todd. In addition, he enjoyed his kayak as well as his bicycle. He continued well into his 70s to be a regular rider with his son Tom in the Tour de Cure. He also served for a number of years as a member of the Sodus Bay yacht club, ultimately becoming Commodore as result of his hard work and popularity.
Charlie's happy place was the Adirondacks. He and Aldora, his wife of 30 years, would spend much of their free time there. Usually they could be found at Aldora's family cottage near Eagle Bay on Fourth Lake.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024, 12-5PM at King's Bend Park, 170 W Jefferson Road, Pittsford, NY 14534. Please RSVP in the event below.

I met Charlie through the Sodus Bay Yacht Club. We worked together on several committees. We became hunting buddies on my family's farm in the Finger Lakes. We had many memorable times over the years on the farm. Charlie had a warm, engaging personality that allowed him to listen and carry-on great conversations. He was a great, long distance friend once I moved out of the area.
