Charles Stanley Worthington, 70, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Chuck was born in Topeka on January 28, 1955, the son of Leonard and Anna Belle Saffell Worthington. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School. Chuck earned a BA from Washburn University where he played tennis and baseball. He retired from the State of Kansas with the Department of Revenue. Chuck married Mary O'Connor on November 23, 1985; she survives.
Chuck was a kind and laid-back guy who would help anyone out. He took care of five feral cats that made his backyard their home and fed the birds daily. Chuck enjoyed country music concerts. He and his entire family had a passion for baseball. Chuck was a fan of the KC Royals and Chiefs, KU Jayhawks, betting on the sports book, playing poker and slots up north. He liked golfing, fishing, eating out and took pride in eating healthy and working out with weights regularly.
Chuck is also survived by his brother, Terry Worthington (Kathy); niece, Rose Worthington; brothers-in-law, Tim O'Connor, Don O'Connor (Joan) and Mike O'Connor; sister-in-law, Diane Eakes (Bob); cousins, Sally Thompson and Julie Stambaugh; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law (Orvis), Trish Wilcox; and brother-in-law, Jerry O'Connor.
Per Chuck's wishes, he will be inurned in Mount Calvary Cemetery with only his immediate family present.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cat Association of Topeka, Helping Hands Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.
